Following on from The Moon at Mordiford, July 17th saw
the second year our annual Bike show being held at Hereford Football Club.
Although there was not quite the attendance of last year there was approaching
200 motorcycles present and a great showing of VMCC eligible machines. Hereford
FC provided all the drinks we needed and their match caterers did a great job
of feeding the hungry bikers and spectators.
Steve Hunt was press ganged into judging all the bikes to
find winners for the 4 categories the committee had chosen this year, The
Pre-war award went as it happens to Chairman Terry Pickering’s 1937 AJS Silver
Streak. The Post-war award went to Mike Englands 1969 350 Kawasaki which has
been in his ownership for 52 years. The best competition bike went to Gary
Gittings beautiful 350 Matchless and finally best in show was awarded to a 1970
Yamaha 125, I am sorry but the owners name was not revealed to me. As there was
a good showing of Scooters, next year there will be an award for their
category.
The weather although there had been showers earlier in the
day behaved itself all evening and everyone stayed dry. A couple of collection
buckets were passed around and resulted in £158 and change being raised for
Hereford FC.
