Herefordshire & Mid Wales Section Cafe Racer Ride

Our Section’s Cafe Racer Ride was started some years ago and resurrected in 2023 after lying dormant for a while.  The general idea was a brisk run over 50 or 60 miles on flowing roads with great bends, visiting a few cafes en route.  Riders were encouraged to dress the part in black leathers (maybe with a 59 Club or Ace Cafe sew-on badge), white silk scarf, seaboot socks and pudding basin or jet helmets, and ride bikes with clip-ons and rearsets, and a few did, but all were welcome on VMCC-eligible bikes

The 2023 Ride started and finished at Dom’s Bike Stop and called in at cafes at Stanford Bridge and Clows Top.  Rosettes were awarded to the best cafe racer bike and the most authentic coffee bar cowboy and cowgirl, although unfortunately we didn’t have any cowgirls that year!

We crossed paths at Clows Top with about two dozen scooters but waves and smiles prevailed and a Brighton Beach-type Mods v. Rockers pitched battle was avoided!

The Ride didn’t happen in 2024 and 2025 but will resume on September 19, 2026.
